In the Room Where It Happens: My Delegate Experience & How to Win a Contested Race
I’ve had the privilege of serving as a delegate to the Indiana Democratic Party State Convention in 2020, 2022, and 2024. Each experience has been energizing and inspiring. In a state like Indiana, there’s something powerful about being in a room with more than 2,000 dedicated, passionate Democrats from every corner of the state. It’s a welcome reminder that we are not alone in our shared values and in our commitment to building a better Indiana.
What I Wish I'd Known About Helping My Kids Vote
For years, I did it wrong.
Every election cycle, I'd launch into my passionate speech about civic duty, the importance of participation, and how their generation could change everything. I'd forward celebrity memes and Instagram stories designed to inspire, then remind them about registration deadlines with increasingly urgent texts. I thought if I could just make them care enough, they'd show up at the polls.
Help Wanted: Candidate Support
This year, we have the strongest slate of Democratic candidates we have ever had!
Now, we need to do our part to help them get elected.
Each campaign will have a handful of key members that form the backbone of a campaign. Several of our candidates are still looking to fill those roles. So I need YOU to consider stepping up and filling these roles.

In Fishers Voting Recap: SEA 1 Local Government Finance
What happens at the Statehouse doesn’t stay at the Statehouse. It hits our classrooms, our teachers, and our kids. SEA 1, the property tax overhaul passed in 2025, will strip millions from HSE Schools over the next several years, leaving fewer resources for teacher pay, facility upkeep, and essential programs.
Yesterday We Spoke. Tomorrow We Build.
What began as a surge of civic engagement has become something larger: a reminder that organized voters still have the power to be heard in a Statehouse long dominated by a single party. As HamCo Dems look toward the 2026 elections, we are sharpening the focus on restoring balance, rebuilding trust, and elevating the voices that have too often gone unheard.
Hoosier Property Tax Re-Re-Reform?
Indiana legislators passed a contentious property tax reform bill during the 2025 session that remains in the public conversation as the legislature prepares to launch its 2026 session. The legislation—touted as a signature initiative of Governor Mike Braun—will have lasting local repercussions. This is ironic, given Braun got 51.16% of Hamilton County’s vote. While there is talk about reopening this legislation, there are significant differences as to why and how it should be revisited, or whet
Restore the social contract through political engagement
The models of Hamilton County are starting to make our reps in the state legislature and in Congress quite nervous. Our population, trending more educated and racially diverse than in the past, is looking more and more like a place that traditionally votes for Democrats.
Calling for Fairness: Phone Banking Against Indiana’s Early Redistricting Push
What began as my first experience with phone banking quickly became a reminder of how deeply Hoosiers care about fair maps. In a virtual room of volunteers, I saw how one conversation at a time can push back against gerrymandering.

Did Rep. Todd Huston Ever Really Believe in Annexing Illinois Counties?
Indiana House Speaker Todd Huston (R-37) authored House Bill 1008 earlier this year, which establishes the Indiana-Illinois Boundary Adjustment Commission. This commission’s purpose is to study the possibility of Indiana annexing 33 counties that voted to secede from Illinois.
In Fishers Voting Recap - SEA 2 Medicaid Matters
With its required additional and extensive administrative reviews, SEA 2 will not only cost Indiana taxpayers more but will also cause many eligible Hoosiers to lose Medicaid benefits. When more people are uninsured, healthcare prices increase for everyone.
Protecting the Vote Means Trusting Hoosiers, Not Handing Over Their Data
Indiana’s Secretary of State recently announced that it handed over the names of its more than 4.4 million registered Indiana voters to the federal government to support efforts to “enforce Federal election laws and protect the integrity of Federal elections.” The effort is part of the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (DHS-USCIS)’s Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) program.

The Move to Vote Centers
The Hamilton County Election Board has put forward a proposal to use vote centers rather than precinct-based polling locations on Election Day. I attended the public meeting in which the proposal was discussed, and I wanted to provide you with some additional context.
