New Poll: The Majority of IN-05 Voters Ready to Replace Spartz

New Poll: The Majority of IN-05 Voters Ready to Replace Spartz

Fishers, IN - New poll commissioned by Neighbors to Elect J.D. Ford shows a very competitive race in Indiana's fifth congressional district driven by President Trump and Congresswoman Spartz's deep unpopularity and the compelling candidacy of Senator JD Ford. Conducted by Public Policy Polling, the survey shows the suburban Indianapolis district is ready for new leadership that puts people, not ideology or partisan bickering, first.

PPP released a memo detailing the following:

  • After years of selling out her constituents, voters in this district are ready for new representation. By a nearly two-to-one majority, voters are looking for someone new as their congressperson.

  • Congresswoman Spartz is deeply unfavorable, with a net rating of -13%. 31% of voters in the district give her a favorable rating, while a whopping 44% give her an unfavorable rating. By contrast, Senator JD Ford is well known and significantly more popular.

  • Despite this district voting for President Trump by almost 16%, Congresswoman Spartz begins with just a 5% lead. After messaging, Senator Ford leads Congresswoman Spartz 43% to 42%.

“Victoria Spartz has spent the last six years putting special interests first and letting the people in our district down. She has enthusiastically supported policies that have kicked hundreds of thousands of Hoosiers off their health care, closing our rural hospitals, driving up gas and grocery prices, and devaluing the food and products our farmers produce. This poll reflects what we are hearing from voters throughout the district: we need a leader who does what's right on behalf of Hoosiers, not party leaders or special interests. Throughout my career, I've done just that, and in Congress I'll be unafraid to stand up to anyone from either party who makes life harder for the people of Indiana.”   – J.D. Ford
