Indiana's School Voucher Woes

• Indiana's voucher program has grown significantly, serving about 75,000 students and costing the state roughly $500 million in 2024-25.

• Public school leaders are concerned funding isn't keeping pace with inflation and enrollment, especially as more state dollars go toward vouchers.

• Many voucher students were already attending private schools, with a 2023 IU study finding about 70% were private school students before receiving vouchers.

• The main debate is how to fund school choice without weakening public schools, which continue to educate the majority of Indiana students.

National Voter Registration Day September 15th

During the day, ALL IN for Democracy will unveil their Indiana Voter Bill of Rights at a media event and challenge Secretary of State candidates to tell voters where they stand on policies to improve voter turnout.

Indiana's voter turnout rate has been among our nation's lowest for more than a decade. Common Cause Indiana hopes to make policy changes to make voting more accessible and meaningful for all Hoosiers.

• October 5 - voter registration deadline

• October 6 - early voting begins

• October 22 - deadline for absentee ballot request by mail

• November 2 - deadline for clerk to receive absentee ballot

• November 3 - ELECTION DAY
