Dems "Excited to Provide Voters with a Choice"
From the Indiana Capital Chronicle on July 6th, 2026
Democratic candidates will appear on the November ballot for all but three Indiana legislative seats. Republicans will have 20 vacant races.
The Indiana House Democratic Caucus indicates that this the party's largest candidate list this century and increases hope that Dems can break the Republican supermajority.
According to House Democratic Leader Phil GiaQuinta, "Indiana Democrats are excited to provide voters with a choice at the ballot box, and we stand ready to fight back against extreme policies that don't serve our communities."
The Republicans did select a candidate to run against Rep. Victoria Garcia Wilburn. This was a closely contested seat in the 2024 election. Paul Nix has been selected as the Republican candidate.
