ARMY VETERAN LASIMA PACKETT ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY FOR INDIANA STATE SENATE DISTRICT 31

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

December 21, 2025

Fishers, IN — Lasima Packett, a longtime public servant, community advocate, and military veteran, today announced her candidacy for Indiana State Senate District 31, launching a campaign focused on putting people first, protecting the voices and values of hard-working Hoosiers, and delivering practical solutions for families.

Packett brings over a decade of experience in public service, community engagement, and leadership at the local, state, and national levels. She recently served as a community advocate, working closely with residents, neighborhood associations, nonprofits, and government agencies to strengthen communities, expand access to resources, and address quality-of-life issues.

“I’m running because our neighbors deserve a state senator who listens, shows up, and leads with integrity,” said Packett. “District 31 deserves leadership that is grounded in service, committed to fairness, and focused on building opportunities for every family, no matter their zip code or political affiliation.”

A proud military veteran, Packett’s career has been defined by service and accountability. She has worked across sectors—including local government, nonprofit organizations, and federal service—and has consistently focused on collaboration, transparency, and results. Her campaign emphasizes bipartisan problem-solving and a belief that the government should work for the people it serves.

If elected, Packett will prioritize:

  • Strong public schools that support students, educators, and families

  • Fair tax policies that support public infrastructure, safety, and community well-being

  • Supporting Affordable housing and cost-of-living relief for working families

  • Protecting democracy, including fair representation and accountable government

Packett lives in Hamilton County with her husband, a retired Army veteran and union electrical apprentice, and their daughters. As a parent, she says her campaign is also focused on the future of Indiana for the next generation.
