What’s a Precinct Committeeperson (PC)?
A Precinct Committeeperson (PC) acts as the vital link between the Indiana Democratic Party and the current and future Democrats in their precinct. PCs play a critical role in connecting people to the Democratic Party and ensuring the Party stays connected to the community.
As a PC, you'll take on key responsibilities, including:
Supporting voter engagement efforts in your precinct.
Communicating party initiatives to your neighbors.
Helping shape the future of the Party by participating in decision-making processes.

Here’s what you can do as a PC:
Caucus for Party Leadership: Participate in selecting the Hamilton County Democratic Party Chair.
Fill Vacancies: Vote in county caucuses to fill ballot vacancies or elected Democratic positions if needed.
Engage Your Community: Meet your neighbors, encourage voter turnout, and foster Democratic values.
Build Connections: Network with fellow Democrats by attending volunteer events, fundraisers, and other party gatherings.

How Do I Become a PC?
Appointed PCs:
Precinct Committeepersons can be appointed by the party. To be eligible to vote in the upcoming 2025 HamCo Dems Party Leadership election, you must be appointed as a PC by January 31, 2025.
Elected PCs:
PCs are also elected during the Primary Elections. If you’d like to run for PC in 2026:
Submit your candidacy form, CAN-37, to the County Election Office between December 2025 – January 31, 2026.
Your name will appear on the Primary ballot if the position is contested.

Requirements.
Registered IN voter
Resides in precinct in which they are a candidate
Most recent primary vote was cast in a Democratic primary or has never voted in a primary and declares Party affiliation or
County Chair certifies Party affiliation
Submit CAN-37 form to county voter registration office
Per InDem rules, the duties of Precinct Officers (1) Inside his or her precinct, the precinct committeeperson’s duties include:
(A) Polling residents;
(B) Registering voters;
(C) Maintaining a current poll list of voters;
(D) Identifying and assisting absentee voters to register;
(E) Promoting Party candidates;
(F) Operating an election day organization;
(G) Encouraging voting by persons preferring Democratic Party candidates;
(H) Recommending persons for the precinct election board;
(I) Recruiting volunteers for the Party;
(J) Attending training and other party-building activities sponsored by State Committee;
(K) Reporting periodically on the state of the Party to the county chair or his or her
