I am a 35 year resident of Hamilton County and spent more than 30 years in public service with responsibilities of managing grants with the fiduciary oversight for internal and external contracts. As Director of Planning and Quality Assurance at CICOA Aging & In-Home Solutions, I engaged in internal budget development and worked with the management team to create measures of outputs and outcomes for our major service cost-centers that provided services to more than 5,000 elderly and people with disabilities meeting a nursing home level of care, annually in Marion and the seven surrounding counties. These services kept people in their homes longer, and helped their caregivers with respite and other support.
These budgetary skills are consistent with the work requirements of the Hamilton County Council, as it determines and approves the budget for the county in conjunction with the County Commissioners. I also possess a vision for the 3rd District and Hamilton County which include the need to protect our assets and infrastructure, such as our world class farmland, and the need to protect it from sprawling development. It includes protecting our water quality and making the White River drainage more robust with wetlands to decrease flood risks, while increasing recreational opportunities.
I am married to my wife Sally, a retired principal and teacher of children with special needs. My son Austin is a proud Noblesville High School and Indiana University graduate. He is a social worker at Eskenazi Hospital and lives with his wife Celina in Indianapolis. I continue to serve on the Board of the Center for At-Risk Elders, where I’m its immediate past President. I have a love of the outdoors, which is reflected in the policy considerations I will bring to the table if elected.
