Devon Wellington for Indiana State House, District 29:
Devon Wellington is the kind of person who sees a problem and builds a solution, and she's been doing it her whole life.
When she couldn't find a quality product at a fair price, she figured out how to manufacture and sell that product herself. That business grew 3.5 times year over year. When she saw families struggling to navigate special education services, she became an expert in education policy, working across local, state, and federal levels to help leaders and schools understand how the laws that are supposed to protect our kids actually function, and where they fall short. When she saw a gap in her community, she joined district-level committees to help fill it.
Devon chose Noblesville. Her family had visited for a decade before they made it home, drawn by something she felt the moment she arrived: the kind of community where neighbors know each other, kids can move freely, and people still show up for one another. It reminded her of where she grew up. She wanted that for her children. So they put down roots here, and she became a Hoosier by choice.
She knows this community because she lives it: the school drop-offs, the local businesses, the conversations at the soccer field about what's getting harder and what feels out of reach.
That's why last year was a turning point. Just months after our community chose a non-partisan school board over a self-identified partisan ticket, legislators in Indianapolis moved to make partisan school board races a requirement statewide. Voters here had already sent a clear message: we don't want partisan politics in our schools. Devon reached out to our state representative for months, offering her expertise, asking to be heard. She was ignored. Then our representative voted for the bill anyway, directly against what her own constituents had chosen. Devon realized that our representative was never going to choose constituents over toeing her party's line. Frustration alone wasn't going to change that. This district needed someone willing to act.
Devon is running because she has the skills to make a difference and because too many people in District 29 feel like no one in the statehouse is actually listening. You're not alone in that feeling. District 29 doesn't need someone who will simply hold a seat. It needs someone who will use it.
